“From bored and burned out to happy and healthy in and out of work”.
Instead, I felt mentally and physically exhausted all the time and didn’t know how to deal with it. I kept trying to do my job the best I could. I worked late nights and weekends. I drank all the energy drinks I found. I even cancelled dinners with friends and gave up the little left from my social life. I really tried to never show others how I felt, but I often cried in silence behind my desk at 4am and hid in conference rooms during lunch at times. I tried to have a life after work but when I got home all I wanted to do was NOTHING. I just wanted to lay on my bed and rest. I felt like I was giving so much energy to others at work, but got nothing in return. The hardest part was that no matter what I did, I felt like I wasn’t good enough.
I really wanted to wake up everyday doing what I loved, make money and be happy without being stressed all the time. I really wanted to better take care of myself and spend quality time with my friends and family. I kept questioning myself about all of this but I couldn’t figure out what was next for me. I felt stuck. I felt so drained, vulnerable and taken advantage of. I was becoming boring and a bit depressing. I didn’t know how much longer I could handle this.
Looking back, I wish I didn't keep trying to prove myself to others and distracting myself from thinking about how I felt. I wish I knew how to put myself first without having to call in sick or quit. If I knew what to do to feel better, I wouldn’t have felt so isolated, empty and helpless for so long.
After trying to resist and prove myself for sooo long, I hit my max limit and burned out. On my last day, I did what I had to do so no one noticed. Deep down I didn’t know what was next for me and it was both terrifying and embarrassing. I mechanically tried searching for new opportunities, but I didn’t want to repeat history and go through all of that again. I barely had any energy, motivation, or enthusiasm left in me anyways. I no longer cared. I was done.
Unfortunately, I can’t go back and change the past. What I can do is learn from my mistakes and use my personal experience to empower you to retrieve the energy, smile and life you lost at work.
After I burned out, It was only through working with coaches to understand how and why I got myself in that situation and learnt how to properly heal from that draining working environment that I finally figured out what were the next steps for me.
Since then, I became a Certified Professional Coach and focused on learning everything I can to help you keep your energy and smile in and out of work.
